This is the archive for June 2008
So, it's not as good as riding in South America over summer and if snowboarding was always like this I probably wouldn't go as often, but it's June 1st and I got some turns in. Temperatures have been as high as 25C here lately, so you take what you can get. Adam and I headed to Waterton Park and avoided the long traverse in as the park is open for summer. Climbed up ~1,200 feet and got about 1/2 that on the way down that was good riding. The rest was down climbing and route finding.

I'd just recently gotten my Spark bindings with crampons. If you own a splitboard, you are going to want a set of these. Lighter, more responsive, and the crampon is super easy to work with. Adam doesn't have his set yet, so we ended up trading one ski part way up as the regular skin with duct tape just wasn't cutting it.

Anyhow, winter is over in this hemisphere. Adam and I talked about heading out July 1st to see what we could find. I'm still trying to figure out a way to make it to Chile/Argentina this summer, but it's looking less and less likely....

Still lots of snow up here! Adam crosses one of many creeks New bindings and crampons After the swap - one of each I left the high shutter speed at home, so this is the only decent pic of Adam riding. Adam has a quicker shutter, so here's a couple action shots of me. T-shirt and shorts! Adam has a quicker shutter, so here's a couple action shots of me. T-shirt and shorts! Log ride on the way out. It's bear season. And green grass season too. This cub seemed to be separated from Mom.
